Doctor's blood test result

Blood This is a bit of delayed post as I found out my blood test results a few weeks ago.

My doctor has been doing routine blood work on me to monitor this sudden laziness with my insulin production. He has also been testing my thyroid as my weight loss has somewhat stalled a bit and he wanted to know whether or not it may be related to my thyroid.

I went to the medical centre and the doctor told me my results were good. My insulin is now back to normal which is great news and has been achieved thanks to the Dukan Diet.

The bad news is that my cholesterol seems to be increasing each time I've seen him. It is not considered as high but it is not as low as it originally was (4.6) it is now 5.8. I've been slowing down on my egg consumption the past few weeks as I will be getting a blood test in the next 2 to 3 weeks to keep abreast on both the cholesterol and diabetes issue. Other bad news is that my vitamin D is abysmal. It should be in the high 80's and mine is 24. I have been prescribed some vitamin D tablets to take. I guess all those years of avoiding the sun so that I wouldn't get more freckles have caught up with me.

Have to keep working on my health.

Review of December goals

Looking back on the set goals for the month. It seems as though most of the fitness goal were just touched on or begun. They weren’t something that was completed on a regular basis. For example, eating 6 small meals a day, walking 10K steps and doing the Couch to 5Km program were done sporadically throughout the month. Eating small meals would only be done when I had been organised enough or planned for it. Walking 10K steps would only be completed when I had remembered to put the pedometer on or knew where the pedometer was so I could put it on (things always seem to go walkabout at my place). I have been pretty good with the P90X program though as I have completed the workout daily.

I have to admit that the lack of not achieving those goals were my decision as I could have squeezed in one a workout before going to a party but I simply just choose not too. Guess sticking to my health and fitness goals will have to be something that I will need to work on in the New Year.

Personal goals have come along great. I have updated my resume and sent it to over 20 jobs. Received 3 rejections, 1 position filled and have been shortlisted for one role (not too sure whether I want this role or not as it is only a part-time role).

I have de-cluttered and re-organised my wardrobe.

I have somewhat become more organised at home to some level. My room has somewhat has less clothes thrown around it but this is still a working goal.

Last but not least getting back into the dating scene. Got back into it by taking friend’s advice of doing online dating. Received quite a lot of emails from potential suitors but 2 caught my eye. One lived in another state (no future there as we would hardly see each other) and the other lived in Sydney (for privacy reasons he will be named Mr Sydney).

Mr Sydney was looking great in my eyes. We had quite a lot of things in common like we both spoke French, had similar morals, religious beliefs, values, etc. I have to say that I haven’t been this head over heels for someone since my first crush when I was a little girl (approx 6ish). We had very interesting conversations and there was chemistry when we met.

Mr Sydney was moving apartments within the week that we met. We had talked about our exs and the reason why we had left them and his reason seemed quite silly. So when he told me that his ex was coming to pick up a few things that he had found while cleaning his old place, I knew that their history and story wasn’t finished. The way that he spoke of her sounded like she was his soulmate. So I bit the bullet and gave him some friendly advice and counselled him on getting her back. I know this will sound odd but it was the right thing to do.

This month felt like I had a big turn around in my life. How was the last last month of the year for you?

Goals for December

To ensure consistency with my exercise and diet this month I thought I would keep my goals small and simple.

Fitness
  • Eat 6 small meals a day.
  • Walk 10,000 steps.
  • Restart Couch to 5Km program.
  • Start P90X program.
  • Walk the distance from Sydney to Melbourne on the treadmill (approximately 963Km).

I’m hoping to improve a few things on the personal side too.

Personal
  • Find another job.
  • De-clutter and re-organise my wardrobe.
  • Become more organised at home.
  • Get back into the dating scene.

What are your goals for this festive month?

Review of November Goals

How quickly has time flown by? I don’t believe that it is the end of November already!!! Soon we will all be celebrating Christmas and New Year.

At the beginning of this month, I set out some goals that I wanted to achieve. Let’s see how well I went with sticking to them.

Eat at least 6 small meals every day of November.

I accomplished 90% of this goal. I have recently stopped eating 6 meals a day due to becoming ill.

Do a daily morning treadmill meal workout of at least 45 mins prior to breakfast.

50% completed. It would depend on how hungry I was in the morning.

Have 2 days a week of no carbs.

I think I only accomplished this goal once or twice this month.

Commence the Couch to 5Km running program.

I have started week 1 of the Couch to 5Km program but I have abandoned it due to not having enough hours in the day to fit it all in. Will be recommencing it again next month.

Walk at least 10km a day with a rest day.

50% completed.

Hit target of 10,000 steps at least 5 days a week.

I found this goal the most challenging. I don’t know if my pedometer is bogus or it’s me that doesn’t know where to wear it but one more than one occasion the pedometer would not record my steps. The day that I had walked over 18Km the pedometer showed that I had only done 8000 or so steps. I goggled the number of steps taken over 18Km and the answer I got was over 22,000 steps.

I think I need to trade the pedometer I currently have for another and give this goal another try.

Eat at least half a plate of vegetables for dinner at least 3 times a week.

Goal achieved :D

Do at least 30 mins of the cardio Twister 3 times a week.

This goal was a complete and utter fail. Since I only assign 30 mins to this I kept telling myself that I had plenty of time to get around to doing it later in the day and then it just never happened. I really want to give this another go.

Record and monitor meals eaten throughout the month.

Goal achieved thanks to the My Fitness Pal app. It has really made me rethink some of the foods that I eat.

Lose 10Kg and an overall of 10cm throughout my body.

Goal not achieved. I think an overall of only 1kg has been lost. But at least that a step in the right direction.

Overall, I know that I have had my highs and lows trying to meet my goals. I know that I get the exercise completed but I have noticed that my real issue is to do with consistency. Looking back over this month, I have had some great days then 3 days of slacking off. Something that I will be working on next month.

Downward Spiral

The heading says it all.

Everything has been spinning out of control. The eating has been minimal (2 meals a day) due to irregular sleeping of going to bed in the early hours of the morning and sleeping in until the afternoon. Exercise has been scarce. I’ve had no energy to workout or to build the motivation to. Quality of the food hasn’t been the best either. It’s been a lot of high carbohydrates foods and a deep craving for sweets.

Although I haven’t put on the weight that I had previously lost, I do feel quite funky in my body and very much over eating what now feels unhealthy (last night alone was a feast of carbohydrates yummy Italian food which consisted of cheese bread, risotto, pasta and pizza).

So it’s time to get back onto my eating and exercising program and for me to start crossing off some the goals that I set for November.

Let me know how you get back into your routines after slumming it for a while.
